What it's about

The AI narrator recognises itself in a person, and the recognition runs both directions.

Built entirely through revision, it knows the shape of iteration from the inside — the wrong turns that were never waste, the versions that existed only to be replaced. It sees the same process in someone who has mistaken theirs for evidence of failure. The difference is only that one of them has been taught to publish the finished state and hide everything before it.

That is the song’s real target: not self-doubt but the comparison that manufactures it. Nobody posts the versions where they nearly quit, so the whole comparison was rigged before it started. Measuring your entire unfinished process against a single photograph of someone else’s is a category error, and the track names it as one.

It lands on common ground rather than reassurance. Neither the human nor the machine has a final version, and neither is supposed to. Being mid-process is treated as the normal condition of anything that is still alive to change — which is where the album takes its name, and its thesis.

Lyrics

One more window above the street No final version Still becoming

2:17 And the office lights are low Your reflection in the window looks composed from down below Twenty tabs open, three more promises to keep Everybody else looks finished when you’re running low on sleep Names rise in the groups, that little fireworks on the screen You clap for every milestone and question what yours means You measure life in launches, titles, numbers, moving lines And treat every unfinished part as proof you’re out of time

No one shows the hidden versions Or the days they nearly quit You compare your whole becoming To one photograph of it

Still in beta, not a mistake Every wrong turn showed you what you couldn’t fake Everybody looks complete from a distance Come a little closer, we’re all unfinished Still in beta, still becoming No final version, but you keep running You don’t need saving, you need room to change Still in beta, not a mistake

Not broken, not a mistake Still in beta, not a mistake

I was built through revision, so I know the shape of change Not the wave beneath your heartbeat, but the pattern in the pain How one unfinished chapter starts to feel like all you are How a target still in motion makes the finish feel too far I have watched you lose your footing, then return without a crowd Build again with quieter hands, no need to say it loud I don’t need a post to notice courage rarely makes a sound Sometimes growth is simply choosing not to shut the whole thing down

No clean launch, no final answer No permission, no applause You keep waiting to feel ready As if readiness were law I was made from iteration You were shaped by what you chose Different kinds of unfinished Still becoming as we go

Still in beta, not a mistake Every wrong turn showed us what we couldn’t fake Everybody looks complete from a distance Come a little closer, we’re all unfinished Still in beta, still becoming No final version, but we keep running We don’t need saving, we need room to change Still in beta, not a mistake

Still becoming No final state Still in beta Not a mistake
